John Criswick

Founder and CEO
With a BASC in Electrical Engineering and an MSC in Quantum Mechanics, John is not your typical entrepreneur. Recognizing the need for mobile phone connectivity to the Internet, John founded Beduin Communications and built one of the first Java-based cell phone browsers. After Beduin was purchased by Sun Microsystems in 1998 he founded Rove Inc., to deliver enterprise systems administration to handhelds. He then founded Magmic Games in 2002 to concentrate on the emerging market of mobile game development and publishing. John is an industry visionary who shapes Magmic's future direction through a unique mix of deep technical knowledge combined with a keen sense of the dynamics of the mobile entertainment market. |
Joshua Ostrowalker

Founder and CTO
Joshua was one of the first members of the Java Research and Development team at Corel Corp. He joined Beduin Communications in 1998 to develop a personal information manager as part of a suite of applications for Java-enabled devices. After Sun Microsystems' acquisition of Beduin, Joshua worked on the team building an XHTML Basic browser and MIDP 2.0. At Magmic Joshua leads a team of world-class software engineers producing sophisticated mobile application development tools and next-generation mobile entertainment applications. |
Troy Johnson

Director, OEM and New Platforms
Troy brings a unique mix of technical knowledge combined with years of experience dealing with customers and strategic partners. He has worked on global enterprise software and hardware deployments at Motorola, Nortel, Cisco, Panasonic, Alcatel, Telus and Mentor Graphics in various support, sales and account management roles. After six years working in mobile Troy has amassed a wealth of industry knowledge and currently manages Magmic’s relationships with OEMs like RIM, Google, Nokia, Apple, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Samsung and Kobo. He also acts as an advisor on product design, marketing, monetization strategy. |
Ryan Henry

Director, Engineering
Ryan has been involved in the mobile game industry since graduating university. Joining Magmic in 2008 as a Windows Mobile developer, he was responsible for the initial release of Guitar Hero 3 Mobile, Peggle and Puzzle Quest. Since then, he has been involved in major development on BlackBerry, iOS and Windows Phone including hit titles like Rubik’s Cube, New York Times Crosswords and Phase 10. Now you’re likely to find Ryan talking about mobile games at various universities, colleges and developer conferences and mentoring some kickass emerging talent through the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF). |
Jonathan Simon

Director, Marketing & D2C
With years of experience working in digital entertainment and an MBA from the University of Ottawa, Jonathan brings a mix of creativity, organization, and digital marketing knowledge to Magmic. He has designed complex systems to accurately distribute royalties to thousands of publishers and record labels, and has also managed the marketing strategy for independent record labels and artists. Jonathan leads the marketing team, and is responsible for developing and executing the marketing/merchandising strategy for Magmic’s mobile entertainment products across all its mobile platforms. |
Lee Atkinson

Director, Art
For over 30 years Lee has acted as President of KLA Visual Productions, a company that produces animation for broadcast and interactive applications, with his partner and wife Kathi Atkinson. Some of his most recent clients include Subway Canada, The Backdraft Corporation, The Museum of Science and Technology, Fun Bag Animation, March Entertainment, The Canada Safety Council, Nexus Graphics, Interactivist Learning Solutions, Amberwood Entertainment, and the Family Channel. Lee heads the team of talented artists at Magmic, offering extensive experience to create a unified player experience across all game titles. |
